The email

The email you send will look a little like this:


The text in blue is a URL.  Touching or clicking on it will, in most modern email applications, take the receiver to either a Google maps application or to the default web browser where the Google Maps pages will be opened.
Google Maps will use this information to drop a pin on the sender's location.

Google Maps offers many facilities, such as settelite, terrain and street maps.  If the receiver has geo-location facilities, it will show them where they are, and it can be asked it to give directions to your pin.
