Upgrading from iCalViewer
Working out an answer to the question of what is the upgrade path from iCalViewer to TimeWorks has been very difficult. Here are some points I would like to make in support of the choices:- iCalViewer/TimeWorks is not expensive: a full license costs about as much as 2-3 cups of coffee or parking your car in town.
- The license price has not changed since first release in 2003, and I have never asked for an upgrade fee, which means that some people have been using iCalViewer/TimeWorks for nearly 8 years for a total cost of US$11.
- Whilst iCalViewer/TimeWorks is a labour of love, I am also in business to make a living like most of us are. I also need to have income in order to fund future development. So this is not a grab for cash, it is a request for support!
Upgrade policy
If you purchased a license for iCalViewer:- before 2010, I ask that you buy a new license.
- in 2010, but before October, I ask that you pay 50% of the full price.
- after September 2010 (that is, in October, November, December, or January 2011), you will receive a free update.
If you qualify for (2) or (3), please contact me via the the contact form and include your current serial number.
NOTE: Currently, Apple does not provide a way to provide free or discounted versions, so this can only be done when I have a non-Mac App Store-specific version available. Expect this before the end of January, 2011.
Upgrade path
- If you don’t own a license or are in category (1), your best path is to buy now via the Mac App Store
- For those in category 2, you can wait a couple of weeks, or buy a via the Mac App Store now for US$5 more.
- If you are in category 3, please contact me as described above and be a little patient.
As always, I appreciate your support and understanding.
If you feel that I am wrong about this or wish to comment, I would like to hear from you via the contact form.
